I. Welcome

This wiki is intended to inform students, teachers and the general public about the educational issues surrounding English Language Learners (ELLs) in the United States. By viewing this wiki, I hope that readers will gain a better understanding of the specific roles the state, local and federal governments each play in creating ELL education policy. Finally, I hope that readers will attend the St. Mary's College of Maryland Student Education Association Spring forum held on March 3, 2012, in order to discuss ELL education with students, teachers and parents from the larger Maryland community.

II. Navigating the Wiki

To navigate the wiki, please view the Sidebar located on the right hand side of this page. There you will find links to each of the subject Folders. The first folder, entitled SMCM SEA Spring Forum lists the forum's schedule, notable background information on each of the panelists, and a more thorough description of each of the six breakout sessions. Each subsequent folder includes a vast amount of information about the historical, social, and political aspects of U.S education policy and ELL education. At the bottom of the sidebar, you will find folders for Podcasts, Recommended Resources, and ELL Education in the News which provide additional information/perspectives on ELL Education.

Thank you for viewing the wiki and I hope you find it useful for furthering your knowledge on U.S education policy and

 ELL Education!
